Chunk's Holiday Adventures

Happy Holidays everyone! We've had a busy holiday season. We got a Christmas tree and Riley and I helped decorate it. Somehow all the ornaments were rearranged to be just out of our reach.... We also put up Christmas lights and a big penguin in front of our house. I liked the penguin in the box, but am not so sure about it all blown up.
Last weekend Grandma, Grandpa, GG, Unlce Jack and Uncle Seth came over for Christmas. Mommy said I slept through most of Christmas last year. Not this year- I didn't even want to take a nap! I loved the paper and boxes and the toys too. Grandma and Grandpa got me a sled which daddy takes me for rides in around the house. Mommy said it might snow tonight and if it does, she'll take me for a real sled ride.

The next day was Christmas Eve. We didn't do too much. Mommy and daddy woke me up to go to church late at night and I thought it was fun to be wide awake! I ran all around church in my PJs. The next morning when I got up Santa had left me some presents. I was excited to see the big Elmo he brought me, but didn't want to go near it. For now I like to wave to him and dance to the Elmo song, but not get too close. I also got a zoo puzzle, a Buckeye hat and a new video. Mommy and daddy even bought a video player for the car, so when we packed up to go to Cleveland- I got to watch movies!

In Cleveland I got to see all my cousins and open more gifts. Daddy taught me how to play the piano at Great Grandma and Grandpas. And my cousin Austin even spent the night with us at Grandma Bonk's and Papa Chicken's. Papa Chicken has two Christmas trees and has a train going around one of them. I liked to watch the train go round and round.

The best thing about the holidays is that Daddy has been off since before Christmas and doesn't have to go back to work until after the New Year. Mommy was off for a few days, but had to go back to work for a few days. She said she is geting ready for our trip. I get to go on an airplane again! We are going to watch the Buckeyes play in New Orleans. I think mommy is a little nervous on how I'll do on the trip, but I'll try to be on my best behavior. We're going to go to an aquarium and do all kinds of fun things. Mommy has to work the game, but Daddy and I will cheer for her until she can meet us.

Have a safe and happy New Year!

Chunk and Friends

I've been pretty busy over the last month. I went to space, visited Santa and saw Elmo.

Mommy took me to the mall where we met Mackenzie and her mom. They had a big play area there with a space shuttle and all of the planets to play on it. I wasn't sure about it at first, but I eventually warmed up and was climbing all over the place. I especially liked the tunnels.

A few weeks ago, mommy and daddy took me to the zoo at night. They had all of their Christmas lights up. I liked the lights, but wasn't so sure about sitting on Santa's lap. I gave him a high five, but that was it for the jolly man in the red suit. While we were there, I also got to ride a horse. I really liked it until we started moving- then I wasn't sure what to do. It was snowing, so we didn't stay too long. I was worn out and slept all the way home and went straight to bed.

We had a big party for the Ohio State Michigan football game. Uncle Jack, Grandma, Grandpa, Papa Chicken and Grandma Bonk were all there. My friends Mya, Mackenzie and Devin all came too. We didn't watch much of the game, but we had fun playing and making noise. Mommy and daddy said it was funny how much their party had changed from the last Michigan game. They must not of had too much fun at the last one.

I hope everyone had a good Turkey day! We went to Aunt Bessie's and had a good feast. There were three puppy dogs there, that I had a blast playing with. Cousin Andy also introduced me to one of the greatest things ever- whipped cream. I especially like whipped cream on cookies!

After Turkey Day, I got to stay home with mommy and daddy for a few days. We had fun playing all day at home. One of mommy's friends from work bought me a new toy- a popper. I like to run it around the island in the kitchen, making as much noise as possible.

On Sunday we went to mommy's work, but she didn't have to work- we went to see Elmo! Mya and Mackenzie were there too. I liked the lights and music and made it through the whole show. I didn't have a nap, so I was a little tired afterwards, but it was a good time.

Mommy said we get to put all of our Christmas stuff up this weekend and get a Christmas tree. I'm not really sure what that is, but it sounds like fun. Even daddy thinks so......

Chunky Halloween

Happy Halloween Everyone! Mommy and Daddy said this was technically my second Halloween, but I don't remember the first, so to me it was my first Halloween. I dressed up as a Chicken and got in my wagon to go around the neighborhood. I was supposed to go Trick-or-Treating with Mackenzie, but I got sick early in the week, so we decided to just stay home. I didn't really care about getting any candy, I just wanted to ride around in my wagon. I liked watching all the kids come up to visit in their different costumes. Before I got sick, Daddy took us to go get pumpkins and I got to see my cousins all dressed up. I wish I would have gotten to play with them more. I hope everyone got more treats than tricks!

Chunk's 1st Birthday- Part II

The rest of my birthday was just as good as the morning. I got a card from my teachers at daycare and my name was up on the birthday board. Mommy picked me up early and we went over to Mackenzie's house to eat dinner. After we were done we headed out to Spooktacular. We got to wear our Halloween costumes and I got to meet a Fire Dog. I enjoyed seeing all the kids in their costumes and looking at the inflatables. I took a nap on the way home and when I woke up, Daddy had a special cupcake surprise waiting for me. I wasn't quite sure what to do at first, but I figured it out pretty quickly. I really liked it- I didn't even share any with Riley. When I was finished mommy and daddy let me stay up a little later than normal and I played with my new blocks. All in all it was a Great day!

Chunk's 1st Birthday

Today is my Birthday! So far it's been a great day. I got to sleep in a little, then daddy sang to me. I was on tv. I get to wear my special shirt. And I got to open my present- all before 8am!

I really liked my new blocks- so did Riley...... Mommy said she's going to pick me up early from daycare and we're going to meet Baby Mac and go to Spooktacular. It's raining right now, but hopefully it will clear up. Daddy said I get a special cupcake tonight and that we're having a big party on Sunday. These birthdays are pretty neat, I wish they happened more often. I'll update with other pictures later. Have a good day!

Chunk's First Steps

I decided to join the upright movers. While I had taken one or two steps before, I decided to show off for Baby Mac and start walking on Sunday. I'm still working on my balance and as I reach my destination I lunge, but I'm starting to get this walking thing down. If I need to get somewhere fast, I still crawl, but I like having options. I also like to walk around with my toys, pushing them everywhere.

I started swim lessons this week. I had fun in the pool and even put my face under water. Daddy let me jump off the side and showed me how to kick my legs under water. I wasn't brave enough to try blowing bubbles in the water- maybe next week.

I've had fun over the last few weeks with Baby Mac. We went swimming and I even took her for a ride on my car.
I hope everyone has a good weekend.

Chunk's Big Announcement......

................I'm going to be a Big Brother!

I'm glad mommy and daddy finally let me make the announcement- the secret has been so hard to keep!
We're all excited that in March the Olsavsky family will be expanding. I hope cousin Jacob doesn't mind sharing his birthday.
I can't wait to meet my new brother or sister and teach him/her everything I know. Mommy said it will be like having one of my friends from daycare live with us all the time- how exciting!
Have a good weekend everyone.

I got my hair cut last night! Mommy and daddy took me to a place where they had a slide inside to play on. I got to sit in a race car and watch Baby Einstein while the lady cut my hair. I sat pretty still and mommy and daddy said I looked very handsome. When we got home, mommy and daddy made me dinner and gave me my own fork. I would pick up the food and put it on the fork, but had a hard time getting it to stay while I brought it to my mouth.

Now that I'm getting older, I've been trying to help out a little. I have fun helping mommy water the flowers. I also help with the laundry by throwing everything out of the basket. When there is an empty basket, daddy gives me race car rides.

Much to mommy's delight I finally said 'ma ma' over the weekend. After months of being called da da, she was happy.

I got my ear plugs from cousin Meg a few weeks ago and they're great. I don't really mind them too much and I get to go swimming again. Mommy and daddy are getting ready to sign me up for swimming lessons, so I've been practicing in the back yard.

I've been trying to take a few steps and it's led to some bumps and bruises. I cut my eye at daycare, but it wasn't too bad. I can stand on my own now and even rock onto my toes and clap while standing. Mommy said I'll be walking in no time. For now, I prefer speed crawling.
Have a good week.

Chunk and Colo

I had a lot of visitors on Saturday. Cousin Meg and cousin Jen came over to play with me and ride with (push) me in my car. I showed them how I could crawl and pull myself up. We even played some ball, when Riley wasn't stealing it. Later in the afternoon when I woke up from my nap, Papa, Uncle Ryan and Austin were there. I loved watching and following my big cousin Austin. I also had fun looking out the front door with Papa and watching all the cars drive by. After I ate dinner, we all went to the Crew game. We saw Daddy working and had a lot of fun, even though the Crew lost. I was really tired when we got home and decided to sleep in until 7:30 on Sunday morning. At church the infant nursery and the toddler nursery were combined. I had fun watching and playing with the big kids. Later on Sunday, Mommy & Daddy took me to the zoo for the Crew family picnic. I got to taste ice cream for the first time! I loved it! Mommy said I got that from her. I wasn't allowed to eat too much, but boy was it good. I can't wait for my birthday so I can eat some more. We had the whole zoo to ourselves. Daddy and I love the gorillas and a few even came right up to us. Daddy's favorite is Colo. She's the oldest gorilla there and doesn't like to interact with people much. Mommy was walking me over towards her and she came right up to us. I wasn't scared at all- it was pretty cool.
Well, I'd better get back to playing. Have a good week everyone.

Chunk and Elmo

We were busy again this weekend. On Saturday I went to cousin Meg's house. She watched me for a little while so mommy and daddy could go to lunch. She took me for a lot of walks and we played with my car and toys. I also left her a nice stinky present! When mommy and daddy got back, cousin Meg made some ear molds, so I can get ear plugs. They are going to be Buckeye colors and I should get them soon, which means I can go swimming again!

Saturday night we went to Chick-Fil-A and Elmo was there! I had fun playing with Elmo, giving him high fives and I even gave him some puffs.

I was worn out on Sunday and took a three hour nap! Mommy said she kept coming in to make sure I was still breathing. Sunday night mommy took me to see daddy at the Crew game. Aunt Amy, Uncle Jack and Alex were there too. The Crew won and mommy said we weren't the jinx anymore. Mommy moved so we could sit behind the drums and flags and I had fun dancing and clapping when the Crew scored. After the game, mommy and I were walking to daddy's office and we saw daddy up on the terrace. I looked up and smiled and waved at him. This was the first time I intentionally waved at someone. Mommy and daddy thought it was great.

I went to the doctor on Monday for my 9 month appt. I've lost a little weight and was just under 22 pounds, down to the 60%. My height and head were still in the 90s.
No shots this time, just a few pricks, which I didn't even blink an eye at. I showed off all my new tricks for the Dr, as I kept crawling to try and grab all the cool stuff she had.

I haven't been doing too well with a sippy cup, but mommy found one with a straw and I love it. I was drinking water all night last night.
Hope everyone has a good week.

Partying Chunk

I had a fun packed weekend. Mommy and daddy took Friday off and we went to the zoo. The monkeys were my favorite and I got to sit in the world's stinkiest flower.

On Saturday mommy and I went to G-G's 82nd birthday party. Daddy wasn't invited, so he made sure I wore a special shirt to the party. I had fun with my cousins Mya, Emma and Miles.

On Sunday we got in the car again and went to Cleveland. It was Great Grandpa B's birthday and my cousin Paige's birthday. I got a lot of good tips from Paige on how to eat my first cake in a few months. I also got to test out the new swing set Uncle Ryan and Papa Chicken made. I had fun swinging.

I've been working on my crawling and am getting much faster. I can pull myself up now and am testing the process of walking while holding on to things. Grandpa made me a toy box, and mommy put all my toys in it. Now I can pull myself up, reach in and find the toy I'm looking for.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Chunk's 1st Fourth of July

Happy Fourth everyone! When I got up this morning, I didn't have to go to daycare. Instead, mommy and daddy took me to the Fourth of July parade. A nice fireman gave me a flag and I got to see Elmo! There were lots of exciting things and people there for me to watch. After the parade we went home and Baby Mac came over to play. We were going to go swimming, but it was too cold out and ended up raining. We had fun playing inside all afternoon. After Baby Mac left, daddy had to go to work. When it was about time for me to go to bed, we started hearing a lot of loud noises. Riley didn't like them too well and started to bark. Mommy took me outside and I saw all kinds of lights in the sky. Mommy said they were fireworks. Towards the end, I wanted to show my appreciation for the display, so I started clapping. After a long day I finally went to bed.

Chunk's Surgery

I went to a lot of doctors last week. On Monday I went to the pediatrician to have my ears re-checked. They were both infected again, so she told mommy and daddy to take me to the Ear, Nose and Throat doctor. The ENT was really nice. I held still while he looked in my ears and even opened my mouth on cue when he wanted to look in. He said my ears were pretty bad and wanted to do ear tube surgery the next day. Mommy and daddy scheduled it and then mommy had to take me to a hearing test. I did really good. When I would look towards the sound a toy played for me. When we were done, she told mommy I had mild to moderate hearing loss on almost every sound. The next morning we went really early to the surgery center. The nurse gave me some grape medicine that put me in slow motion then I went back for the procedure. It didn't take very long and mommy and daddy were able to come see me 20 minutes later. I never knew people could hear so good. On Friday I sat for 10 minutes just listening to myself clap. I think the surgery also helped my balance, as I started crawling and pulling myself up on Saturday. My ears still bother me a little and I don't like having the drops put in, but I'm sure I'll feel better in no time. My girlfriend brought me over a care package to help me feel better and I love my new toys.

Despite all the doctors last week, mommy was off and we managed to squeeze in some fun things. Last Sunday I went to the zoo with my cousin Mya. On Monday mommy took me to story time at the library. On Tuesday we went to the zoo again with mommy's friend and her kids. Mommy got her new car on Wednesday. After my hearing test on Thursday, we went to visit daddy at work. Later that night, Cousin Meg came by to visit. We all wished her Happy Birthday. On Saturday, Uncle Jack came over. On Sunday Cousin Meg came to show us her new car and Grandma and Grandpa stopped by on their way home. In the end I was very tired and went to bed at 6:30.
